A: The TA (Indian Territorial Army is the second line of defense after the Regular Indian Army. The current role of the TA is to relieve the regular army from static duties and assist the civil administration in dealing with natural calamities and maintaining essentials. A: SSB is a comprehensive test of personality. The criteria for assessment in SSB for all entries of three services are the same. Hence SSB for Territorial Army is similar to SSB for any other entry.

A: Shortlisted candidates undergo a screening test at the respective Territorial Army headquarters. During PIB and written exam essential documents are scrutinized. The written exam consists of two papers for a duration of 2 hours each. Paper 1 covers Reasoning and Elementary Mathematics, while Paper 2 carries questions from General Knowledge and English. Candidates need to secure 40% marks in each paper and 50% in overall.

A: The details related to the Territorial Army exam are given below:

  • Territorial Army is part time concept with mandatory two months of training in a year and does not provide full time career.
  • Serving in Territorial Army do not guarantee pension and the same is subject to embodied service as per organisational requirements.
  • Commission is granted in the rank of Lieutenant
  • Pay and Allowances and privileges will be the same as Regular Army Officers when embodied for training and military service
  • Promotions upto Lt Col by time scale subject to fulfilling laid down criteria. Promotion to Colonel and Brigadier by selection
  • Officers commissioned in the Territorial Army may be called out for military service for a longer duration depending on the requirement.
